Some clarification and additional problems related to this issue:
Any student with an employee role is automatically made a teacher in their classes upon enrollment. This can be manually fixed, but if I overlook the student has full access to the gradebook and every other piece of the class.
A student with an employee role cannot be assigned to a dorm room unless the employee role is removed. Their name does not appear on the student list when adding students to dorm rooms.
In athletics, a student can't be added to a team roster if they are the coach, since "coach" is an employee role within the system.
My guess is there are other similar issues where the student and employee roles conflict that will come up in the course of time.
This is a critical need for us as well. We can actually give students an employment role like Dorm Leader, but the system then begins to treat them like faculty in their classes and they can see all kinds of things they shouldn't.
