Here are some issues with the Assignment Center that can help to improve the Assignment Center:
ISSUE THAT NEEDS TO BE FIXED NOW: The Action column is something that Blackbaud has ALREADY CREATED and thus Blackbaud NEEDS TO MAKE IT EFFECTIVE NOW not wait for some future idea request to be acted upon. Blackbaud needs to not be lazy and act now by creating a Continue button in the Action Column that would let students know that they have started or looked at the assignment but that they have NOT submitted it yet (not clicked the Submit Assignment button) and that they can click on this Continue button in the Action Column to continue the assignment. Clicking on the name of the assignment is NOT easily understood. Clicking on the name of the assignment because it is Blue and Blue generally means that something is a clickable link doesn’t tell students that there is an action still needed. Plus some students are color blind so they will not know they can click on the name of the Assignment.
For an assignment that is in progress, an Action Column that is blank is by definition not functioning correctly.
FOR AN ASSIGNMENT THAT IS IN PROGRESS, A BLANK ACTION COLUMN TELLS STUDENTS THERE IS NO ACTION REQUIRED!!!!!!!!!!!
For an assignment that is in progress, an Action Column NEEDS to have a Continue button!
For an Action Column to function correctly there needs to be buttons in it for the appropriate action available.
ISSUE THAT NEEDS TO BE FIXED NOW: The Action column is something that Blackbaud has ALREADY CREATED and thus Blackbaud NEEDS TO MAKE IT EFFECTIVE NOW not wait for some future idea request to be acted upon. Blackbaud needs to not be lazy and act now by creating a “View Completed” button in the Action Column that appears after the student clicks the Submit Assignment button. This “View Completed” button would allow students to see that they had fully submitted that assignment. The “View Completed” button would let the student see what they submitted even if they could not change anything. This would be extremely helpful to students since teachers often say if you study the 9 different homework assignments for Chapter 18, than you will do well on the Chapter 18 test. At that point the students don’t remember what they turned in for those 9 different homework assignments, but by being able to go back to the Assignment Tab and clicking on the “View Completed” buttons for those 9 homework assignments the student would be able to see and download the 9 different files they uploaded/turned in for those 9 different homework assignments.
ISSUE THAT WOULD BE HELPFUL: Creating a NEW File Uploaded Date & Time would be extremely helpful to include because it would show the date & time when the file was uploaded. This would be very helpful if the student uploads a file but forgets to click the Submit Assignment Button, it would give the teacher a date and time when the file was uploaded so they could see that the file was uploaded before the assignment due date and that the student just forgot to click the Submit Assignment Button. In addition it would be even more helpful to have a File 1 upload date & time, a File 2 upload date & time, a File 3 upload date & time, and so on. In addition it would be great if the system would also show the corresponding File 1 label next to the students first file uploaded, along with showing the file name of that submitted file. The system would also show the corresponding File 2 label next to the students second file uploaded, along with showing the file name of that submitted file. The system would also show the corresponding File 3 label next to the students third file uploaded, along with showing the file name of that submitted file, and so on.
ISSUE THAT WOULD BE HELPFUL: Blackbaud should make an “RS” icon to be an “Assignment Being ReSubmitted” icon that displays in the gradebook ONLY AFTER the student has clicked the Submit Assignment Button and the teacher has checked the Allow Resubmits until due date assignment setting. Or the Teacher has clicked the Allow Resubmit button for a particular student. The word Resubmit should only be used once an assignment has been FULLY submitted and an assignment is not FULLY submitted until the student clicks the Submit Assignment button.
