At our school, student have the option of taking specific classes in an early morning block. It would be great to be able to control the student schedule maker in a way that EXCLUDES that block from the process of generating general student schedules so that ONLY those students who want a class in that optional block get put into it. The optional block sections are currently populated via a data import.

Another approach to solve this would be to allow the max capacity to be set at the SECTION level instead of the course level. Then, once the optional courses are populated, we could update the max capacity on that section so that other students do not get scheduled into the optional sections.
